On Saturday morning (1/29), a dozen NYers held a protest against Christine Quinn at an entrepreneurs conference in downtown Manhattan. We were there to inform attendees that their keynote speaker has been exposed on multiple occasions for budget and campaign corruption. Here's an article that concisely explains one of her scandals that is still being investigated by the U.S. Attorney's Office: http://www.365gay.com/blog/gay-city-news-demands-clarity-from-christine-quinn/

Bloomberg Campaign Spending Scandal Update
The New York City Campaign Finance Board is suspending its investigation into whether the committee to reƫlect Mayor Michael Bloomberg violated disclosure rules ; the suspension is coming on the orders of the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, sources have told The New York Post.
Presumably because oral arguments in the District Attorney's criminal case against John Haggerty are being heard tomorrow, Manhattan DA Cy Vance's office has asked the Campaign Finance Board to hold off its review of Mayor Bloomberg's financial disclosures in connection with his 2009 reƫlection campaign.
Mr. Haggerty is accused of misusing approximately $1.1 million in undisclosed money from Mayor Bloomberg's personal-private accounts, which had been paid to the Independence Party ; it has been reported that Mr. Haggerty bought a house with most of the proceeds of Mayor Bloomberg's political donation.
Meanwhile, one questions why Mr. Haggerty is being charged with misusing a political client's money, if he can continue to be hired for his political and campaign services. If Mr. Haggerty was, indeed, a thief, then he would not have been hired to work for 2010 GOP gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino.
If the intention for Mr. Bloomberg's off-committee donation to the Independence Party was always meant to be a way to funnel money to Mr. Haggerty, then it was Mr. Bloomberg, who failed to disclose the campaign payment, not Mr. Haggerty, who misused the proceeds.
That Mr. Vance has asked for the suspension of the Campaign Finance Board's investigation makes one question his motive. As The Post reported, ''If the CFB decides the mayor was trying to hide spending that benefited him directly, he could face a significant fine.''

City Hall News Mike Plots his comeback but oops some dark scandals the article did not discuss Bloomberg-Quinn, SAIC CityTime, SAIC MTA, SAIC Sanitation Dept., Steve Rattner Mike Bloomberg, Mike Bloomberg broke campaign laws Cy Vance doesn't want to know about it, lack of transparency, reckless greedy stupid development mass displacement People are finally angry thanks Blizzard and Cathie Black
Thanks to David from Lost in the Ozone for sending me this...
I posted this comment in response...
Mike with the help of his mini-me Christine Quinn pushed thru a 3rd term using "slush and intimidation" denying the people a referendum! Quinn sold Mike's great lie that we needed Mike to help us with the economy. Mike has only helped his and Quinn's pal who I am sure will donate generously to her campaign for mayor. Mike pushed a reckless tsunami of development with mass displacement including small businesses and a greater death toll than Bloomberg's Blizzard of 2010. Wait until a full forensic audit of CityTime and SAIC's role as was as the shady deal with SAIC and the MTA brokered by Rudy's right hand man Peter Power and the sanitation Dept SAIC none of us knew about are fully revealed and exposed. Mike broke campaign laws yet Cy Vance and even Haggerty have not asked for 62 emails Mike sent Haggerty the NYPost asked for via FOIL but were denied and than there is Mike's money mgr Steve Rattner and pay to play with NY Pensions and pay not to plead guilty or go to jail. By the way, where was transparent Mike? Cayman Islands a place that is subpoena proof sort of like Mike's emails or Bermuda? Typed on my IPhone by Suzannah B. Troy

Christine Quinn is aggressively fund raising to become mayor....this cannot be, we cannot have Mike's mini-me as mayor.
Ditto for Scott Stringer who is just a waste of tax payer's money. I contacted his office to report a conflict of interest - that the chair of community board three E. Village, LES owns at least 10 bars and bars and night life were the number one quality of life issue. When I went and talked about too many dorms and too many bars no one on the community board stated for the record it should be noted McWater owns all these bars. Stringer did nothing. He visited CB3 and it was an orgy of admiration club.
Scott Stringer is the tax payer's black hole. I wish he had to take public transportation and ditto for Christine Quinn.

Protest Against Christine Quinn's Corruption Record
New York voters, open your eyes !
Speaker Christine Quinn shows up to gay rights events -- or gay engagement announcements, like the one that took place on the evening that this YouTube was made -- but Speaker Quinn has never introduced any law to establish marriage equality in New York City.
In contrast, Gavin Newson helped to reshape marriage equality for the United States by allowing same-sex couples to receive marriage licenses in San Francisco.
What comparable action has Speaker Quinn taken ?
Besides being a do-nothing gay leader, look at some of the other unacceptable lows in Speaker Quinn's political record :
- Sick Leave. In 2010, Speaker Quinn rejected paid sick leave, hurting working families and low income New Yorkers.
- St. Vincent's. Also in 2010, Speaker Quinn abandoned any care for public health for the entire Lower West Side of Manhattan after she did nothing to save St. Vincent's Hospital.
- Term Limits. In 2008, Speaker Quinn made a shady deal with Mayor Bloomberg to overturn term limits.
- Slush Funds. Moreover, in 2008, The NYTimes reported that Speaker Quinn oversaw the allocation of discretionary funds to fake groups : ‘’… her office had continued a seven-year-old practice of squirreling away money so it could be handed out away from the public eye.’’ Then, last month, The NYTimes exposed the fact that Speaker Quinn continues her practise of using controversial City Council discretionary funds.

Stringer Fundraising Mayoral Campaign
Potential New York City 2013 Mayoral Candidates Raising Money ; Sitting On Millions Of Campaign Cash.
Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer raised approximately $1 million dollars in 2010 in what is being called a preparation to run for Mayor of New York City in 2013, reported The Wall Street Journal.
The Journal reported that in the final 6 months of 2010, Mr. Stringer raised nearly $400,000, while City Council Speaker Christine Quinn raised $121,000. During the same period, each of Rep. Anthony Weiner and 2009 Mayoral candidate William Thompson did not raise any money.
While Mr. Stringer had a definite fundraising advantage in 2010, his rumoured competition for the Demorcratic nomination have piles of campaign cash that can be funneled into a mayoral campaign. Together with his 2010 fundraising, Mr. Stringer has a combined balance of approximately $2 million, Ms. Quinn has approximately $2.8 million available to her, and Mr. Weiner has almost $4 million on hand.
New York City Comptroller John Liu and Public Advocate Bill de Blasio, each of whom are also considered potential mayoral candidates, have not released their fundraising activities for the latter part of 2010, The Journal reported.

John Liu Stops Technology Contract
Outrageous Cost-Overruns With CityTime Contract Lead Comptroller's Office To Scrutinise NYC's Emergency Telephone System Contract
The CityTime technology contract scandal has cast many doubts on Mayor Michael Bloomberg's other expensive IT programs. The Gothamist has reported that suspicion has grown in connection with the out-of-control costs associated with a technology upgrade to New York City's 911 emergency telephone system.
''The City Time scandal had already been a point of contention between the Bloomberg administration and City Comptroller John Liu, and now their fight has spread to the City's emergency services. Yesterday Liu's office rejected a $286 million contract request for the city's Emergency Communications Transformation Program, (ECTP), an effort to update the city's 911 system—a project that, incidentally, was initially budged at $380 million and has since ballooned to $666 million.''
Now that the Comptroller Liu has finally started showing up to the office as Comptroller and not a candidate for mayor, maybe he will expose other black holes in the city budget ?
