Ruppert Playground Save from Developers!

Hi All-

Thank you to everyone who participated in the last letter writing drive which generated over 1,026 letters to those in our community who have the power to Save Ruppert Playground.

I am writing to you once again to ask for your support.  If able, please attend an important Community Board 8 (CB8) meeting on Wednesday, 1/18/12 at 6:30pm.  A discussion of Ruppert Playground is on the agenda for this meeting.  As part of our presentation to the Community Board our attorney will be asking CB8 to pass a resolution stating that based on the extreme density and lack of open space within the surrounding area Community Board 8 strongly recommends to the NYC Planning Commission that any proposal to change the use of Ruppert Playground from a public recreational space to a high density development be subject to full public review thus allowing the Community Board, Borough President, City Council and the impacted community the opportunity to participate in this significant land use determination.

Public Hearing: Ruppert Playground Large Scale Special Permit ModificationMeeting Date:  Wednesday, January 18, 2012 - 6:30pm
Meeting Location: Ramaz School
125 East 85th Street (Park-Lexington) Auditorium

It would be greatly beneficial to have a strong showing in the audience and particularly beneficial if you could register to speak and voice your support for maintaining Ruppert Playground as an open public recreational space requesting that any proposal to modify the playground be subject to full public review.  (Note that those who wish to speak during the Public Session must register to do so prior to the start of the meeting.)
